Hello everyone and sorry for not posting on Sunday, things as usual have been hectic. I am going to write a post soon explaining why I'm so busy, so please bare with.

Now, one of my favourite types of make-up is foundation. Why do I love it so? Well let's see: it makes your skin look good, it hides dark circles and blemishes and a make-up look would not even begin without it!

The problem is my skin is difficult. And if you have read my blog before you'll see that I have reviewed quite a few foundations. The truth is, I'm still trying to find the perfect one. I DO think that in order for this to happen I need to perfect my natural beauty/skin more and take better care of it. If i do this my skin will improve and I may not need so much foundation and/or foundations may start to look and work better.

I bought this Max Factor Lasting Performance when it was on offer. Max factor is rather dear and I've always wanted to buy from it. So when I saw that it was on offer I jumped at the chance to save a few quid. It was still quite expensive as foundations go but it was still better than buying at full price!

Now this foundation actually has a lovely texture. It is really creamy and soft but isn't really thick. It gives a good coverage and a flawless finish. It makes your pores look smaller too which is an added bonus.

The problem I had with this is it did tend to go patchy and come off more so on parts of my face than others. However I literally have this issue will all foundations- I am yet to discover one that doesn't melt down my face and gather at the tops of my eyebrows!

Another issue I had was the colour was slightly orangey pink. I thought getting a slightly darker tone may mean it'd blend in with my body when I have fake tan on, but it was a different kind of tone. it was more pinky/orange rather than tan coloured.

Nevertheless I think with proper application and skin that is taken care of, this product has the potential to be great for everyone! I haven't had any major issues that make me dislike it, however it has not wowed me as much as I thought it would. With this being said I still like the product and use it regularly!

So as some of you may already know from reading my previous blog posts, I have recently gone blonde. Well blondish, blondoid. And it suddenly occurred to me the other day that I could no longer use my brunette dry shampoo. It just didn't cross my mind that I'd need to purchase ones for blondes. How naive of me!

Any how, I've used Superdrug's brand before and I loved it.

This was so cheap and was under £1 I think which is so student friendly. It was on offer I believe but even when at full price it doesn't come to more than £2!!

The best thing about this product is the smell. It smells so much nicer than some dry shampoos that I've tried in the past, it isn't at all overpowering and smells just like a body spray or something of the sort.

It also doesn't make your hair look white, which I've known some to do before.

With this product as part of my routine I feel confident that my hair will look great and smells great as well as making me feel fresh. It's already turned into one of my favourites for this month and I will definitely be re-purchasing once it is all gone!

I actually bought 2, best to stock up whilst on offer!

Hello my lovelies, so it's been a few weeks since I've done a beauty review and I have to say I have a bunch of them for you!

Today I want to talk to you about hand cream. Now I have quite dry skin on my hands, so much that when it gets cold sometimes it causes the skin to crack and get really sore. I also have a really bad habit of biting the skin around my nails which is really bad. Because of this, finding a good hand cream can be really hard.

But then I discovered this- Garnier Hand Repair Intensive Restoring Hand Cream. My brother's girlfriend actually had it first and I tried it and really loved it.

It is so creamy and thick and is perfect for dry skin because it really feels like it's nourishing deep into the skin.

The bottle lasts quite a long time but it does depend on how often you use it. Although I have to say that you can feel it on your hands for a while after using it, including after washing your hands!

AND I managed to grab this little purchase whilst it was on offer so it was under £3!

I would recommend this for anyone who has dry skin and is looking for a cream that is thick and creamy.

Okay peeps so on Monday I joined the gym *fist pump*! It is my uni gym and I had a month's membership back in April and really enjoyed going and so I got a full years membership this time.
This means I can use all the equipment and do all of the classes.

I just thought I'd write a little post as an update, I know lots of people enjoy these sorts of posts and for those of you who are waiting on beauty reviews, I promise they are coming next week!

So I've been to the gym 4 times this week, which feels really good. Having said that I haven't eaten exactly well. On Tuesday I ordered a Pizza and finished it on Wednesday, so both those days didn't feel healthy. Although to be fair to myself I did try to eat plenty of fruit those days as well. Not to mention the fact I also had pancakes for dinner one night... oops. Fitness fanatics are probably screaming at the screen right now. But I'm a student, plus I'm young and I think we should all get to enjoy ourselves and what we eat. Food should be enjoyable as well as essential, so I say treat yourself every now and again.


At the gym I've done sessions on the treadmills, cross trainers and bikes. I've also done an express cycling class as well as Yoga. So I feel as though even though my diet hasn't been the best I have balanced it as well as I can. Oh yes, I have also just eaten two doughnuts... but they were small! What can I say?

My aim is to go to the gym/classes at least 4 times a week. I also want to make sure I eat fruit everyday, even if it is just one piece. I know we are supposed to eat our 5 a day but when at uni (and if you are a fellow student you'll understand) it is very hard to do so.

So this week has been a fun first week back, but I know my eating will get better once I am properly settled in and have got to grips with my routine.

These are just too delicious not to eat!

Lovely seaside!

Okay, so I'm guilty guys, guilty of not blogging is a fair few days, but I can explain. I've just, moved back to Portsmouth for my final year of University and last week was very manic what with having to pack up my life (basically, I have so much stuff!) and then unpacking it again in my new crib! But having said that, it was all worth it because I love my new house and even though I still haven't got used to it yet, I can tell I will enjoy living here. It's in a perfect location and my room is huge and my bed is super comfy!

So apologies for not blogging but it's been hectic, not only with moving in, but with seeing friends again, my boyfriend and just getting to grips with being back in Portsmouth and away from home. But I am back on the blogging waggon now (well hopefully) but of course I will be studying hard too so I hope to do my best for all!

Luckily for you beauty addicts, I have some new product reviews coming shortly and I'm hoping to do some student menus/recipes in the near future. I also plan on doing some student fashion kind of posts, as mentioned a few days ago, but I want those posts to be done well, so I won't be rushing into it...plus I basically live in hoodies and leggings, but then again... maybe that is 'student fashion'!

I've also joined the University gym so I aim to go there most days and do lots of fun fitness classes, so there will for sure be plenty of fitness and exercise posts and updates for you all!

Having been through Freshers week myself and being a Fresher for a whole year, now entering my final year of University, I feel able to give you all a few tips before starting University. Of course every Uni has it's own unique perks and not every student's experience will be the same, but it is important to know a little about what you're getting yourself into before you go. So i hope these little tips help!

So, contouring has been around for a while and is still extremely popular. For anyone who doesn't know what it is, basically it involves using makeup such as concealer/highlighter and bronzers to sculpt the face and make it look more toned. Why do we do this? Well why do we do anything? It makes us feel and look good, however that's only if we get it right, and believe me it can go wrong and look awful.

So generous ol' me has drawn out a very easy guide to contouring. I plan to upload a YouTube tutorial soon as well, so please stay tuned for that as I'll be using the guide from here in my video. So if you want to watch how I do it then please stay tuned.

So I drew out this dodgy looking face to represent me or well, a face. I can't even look at it for too long without being creeped out by it! But, I did it for you, to help you, so sit tight and don't look directly into its eyes...
***Before I start I must claim that I am not a professional make-up artist and the process I am describing is just my suggestion and may not work for everyone. Please bare this in mind!

As you can see it looks pretty weird, but this is what your face will look like before the process is finished. SO my advise would be to first of all apply a nice base, preferably one that is comfortable and not overly thick otherwise you'll end up looking caked in make up which is not what we want. Perhaps a BB cream or whatever looks nicest. Also it needs to be a tone that matches your skin well. I know that sounds like a given but if its too dark, then you look way to bronzed afterwards. So try to aim for a colour that matches OR is slightly lighter.

Once that is done, find where your cheek bones are and apply some bronzer just underneath them. You may wish to blend this now or wait until your face is mapped out. You want to apply bronzer also to your temples, under your chin/ either side if you want to make your face look narrower, and at the top of your forehead. This will frame the face and is where you might naturally tan. You may want to apply a bit of bronzer to either sides of your nose too, if you want to make your nose look smaller.

Once you have done that, you want to find a good concealer or highlighter. I would choose a concealer myself as I tend to use my highlighter afterwards for finishing touches. You want to apply the concealer in triangles under your eyes, down the nose, on the chin and another triangle on your forehead. You may wish to apply a bit to your cupids bow or anywhere else you feel necessary.

Now you can blend and rub it in how ever you choose. I like to use a sponge to rub in the concealer and a brush for the bronzer. I then place a tiny bit of highlighter on the apples of my cheeks and a tiny bit on the end of my nose to give myself a little glow.

I then set it and complete the blending but applying some powder to my face. This not only ensures the make up with stay put for longer but it also softens the look so it doesn't look quite so made up!

I hope this has somewhat helped, and as I say a video will be up eventually and I shall post it to this blog as well as YouTube. Of course everyone's face shape is different so it is important that you manipulate this process to suit your face.

A Little Bit Of Laura has been running for about a year and 8 months now and has only been growing since then. So to celebrate I am adding a brand new segment to it... FASHION. Now I'm no expert but I do know a thing or two about fashion and design and well, what can I say, I love shopping.

I don't know yet how often I'll blog about fashion. Clothes are expensive and as a student I obviously can't go out and buy clothes willy nilly. BUT I will try my best to involve fashion in the blog whenever I can.

So today marks an important day... I went to the hair dressers! Now you'd think that being a beauty blogger, I'd be all about salons and hair dressers, but in honesty, I haven't had my hair cut at the hair dressers since I was 17... about 4 years ago. Since then i've just grown it out and when I needed a trim, I let my mum cut a bit off the ends!

But today I needed a change. If you've watched my YouTube video where I speak about my 'hair journey' you'll know about this. But basically I used to bleach my hair when I was about 16/17 to the point where it started breaking/falling out. That's when I went to the hair dressers, got it cut off and then started treating it better. I then opted for brunette as it was easier to keep and maintain and I hadn't looked back since.

However over the past 8 months or so I realised how much I missed being blonde and seeing as my natural colour is a lot closer to blonde than it is brown, brunette just didn't feel... me.

So I went through processes of letting my roots grow out, then dying it lighter shades and so on.  Gradually the dark got further down my head, but it didn't look great. It was like opposite ombre (eek)! Then I stripped it using Colour B4 (which by the way is a great product!) and that lifted the colour a fair bit... I did this 3 times or maybe 4, and my hair was still darker than I needed it to be in order to apply a blonde dye. With this all in mind I was desperate not to damage my hair. Luckily the summer sun lightened it a bit as well. But it got to the stage where I was fed up of doing it myself. I wanted nice hair again and my resistance to pay money to have it cut was showing as my hair just looked dull and boring with no character or style.

So today I went to the hair dressers!! The girl I had was lovely and did such a thorough job. I had a full head of pre-lightening (I think she said that was the name) highlights and a good ol' cut!  Even though it still isn't as blonde as I'd like/thought it would go... it looks amazing and feels so much more mature... I finally look my age (maybe). And I really love the colour it's gone. It's a blend of blonde with golden blonde and ash blonde and it looks lush- so Jennifer Aniston!

When I had the foils in I looked like Meryl Streep in Into The Woods!! But when it was all done I was amazed at how healthy and natural my hair looked! I feel very comfortable with the colour and the style and even though I had a fair bit cut off, it's still long enough to style etc!



I am so pleased with my new look and it looks super cool!

I get a bit lazy with 'after shower skin prep' and most of the time I just put on deodorant and then throw some clothes on. But then I found this - Soap & Glory Flirtigo Body Moisturising Mist. This has become one of my favourite products as the moment due to how simple and quick it is to use, not to mention how amazing it smells.

Just a few spritz of this bad boy (rub it in) will leave your skin feeling really firm and super soft and of course smelling great. I feel with this, there is no need for perfume as it acts as a body spray as well.

I cannot fault this product as it's only given me good results. Because it comes out in a mist, the product lasts so long and it take ages to get through the bottle, which means less money spent of refills! Definitely something to think about if you're a student.

This Soap & Glory Flirtigo Body Moisturising Mist is the perfect post-shower treat, even for the laziest of people (like myself). It takes no longer than a few minutes to apply and it leaves you feeling amazing all day long! I highly recommend getting this product!

I thought today I would talk to you all about my daily facial regime. To non beauty lovers, the idea of this probably sounds horribly boring, but if you're like me you'll probably love hearing about products and other people's experiences with them.

I can be really lazy when it comes to facial regimes and I have a hard time sticking to a schedule of using cleansers and toners and all that stuff that promises you better skin. I also have difficult skin, sometimes it's dry and sometimes it's oily. A trip to the doctors some years ago also told me that my skin is very sensitive and therefore I'm always on the look out for products that help with all of these issues.

For Christmas last year I was given these products, which are all from the Simple range.

I had heard that they were great, and I knew my brother's girlfriend used some of their products and so I thought it'd try them out.

Simple: Kind to skin Moisturising Facial Wash

This is great and honestly makes your skin feel silky soft. When you squeeze it out of the tube it is a pearly green colour and feels delicate in your hands. I apply a bit of water to this in my hands and rub them together a little bit to create a little lather (you could use a flannel or cleansing brush- I sometimes do). I then look in the mirror (obviously otherwise I won't be able to see!) and apply it to my face, making sure to not get it in my eyes or mouth etc. I rub it in well making sure the cleansers gets into my pores and gives my face a good wash. If you're lazy like me, why not take this in the shower and make it part of your shower regime. I then wash it off using warm/luke warm water. I then pat my face dry with a nice soft towel (who likes a rough towel... no one!). My skin feels great after using this. The smell is subtle and soft and certainly not overpowering like some products. It's amazing to see what a difference a product can make even after one use. With this product I really feel like its doing some good, it feels natural and I don't feel like I'm applying tonnes of chemicals to my face.

Simple: Kind to skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser

 This is a perfect daily moisturiser. It compliments the facial wash brilliantly and makes your skin feel fresh, natural, clean and ready for the day. Its quite a thin, liquidy moisturiser, and I tend to prefer thicker ones, however I didn't have a problem with this. It felt like it was still nourishing my skin just as well as any and again this product felt more natural than some.

Simple: Kind to skin Illuminating Radiance Cream

 I may have spoken about this before however I really liked this product before even buying it. I would go into boots on my lunch break or after work and use a bit of the tester on my hand and think about getting it and never did. Eventually I treated myself to it. I love it, it gives your skin a little gentle shimmering glow. If you have great skin this would look beautiful and really highlight the best bits of your face. My skin can be quite patchy, but when my skin is at it's best I feel more confident that this product will look good. Sometimes if I'm just popping out and don't really want to put make up on, I'll use a bit of this to brighten up my look.

So there you have it. I love Simple products - they just feel really good. And with my difficult skin they really have helped and made a difference! My facial regime does change a lot depending on what products I use. And remember, everyone is different.
