A Little Bit Of Laura

Summer Update

, by Anonymous

Recently, I've been obsessed with the show Catfish:The TV Show. I love it! For those who have not seen it, it follows two guys names Nev and Max who are out to help people who have met over the Internet.

I think the show is great, not only for those involved, who usually get answers to their long term relationships, but to everyone else. Those of us who frequently use social networking sites tend to forget the dangers. When I was younger I remember it being told all the time that chat rooms were extremely dangerous, and it made me and others rather scared. These days I see less of these warnings, maybe because I am an adult now but either way there should be more awareness as to online safety.

A lot of the people on the show end up finding out that the people they've loved or cared for for years via the Internet are far from what they had been perceived as or told. This happens more than people may think. So many people create fake accounts- whether it in a malicious way or just for personal jokes etc. Either way making fake accounts and profiles has become more common and extremely easy. And I'm not going to have a go at those youngsters who jokingly make fake accounts for what they assume is harmless fun- sometimes people make them but don't use them, and not all people use them badly e.g. fan pages! I seem to remember myself and a friend making a page purely for the fact we wanted to make up funny passwords and stuff (don't worry we never used the profile). So that just goes to show how mundane fake profiles have become. And sometimes kids and teens don't see them as hurtful or dangerous but almost as a simulated persona (like The Sims).

The point of this post is really just to let people know that there is ALWAYS danger on the Internet and they should be careful who they speak to and what they say. If you've been speaking to someone you don't know, there is no harm in searching for them to see if they are legitimate or not.

Also if you're thinking about making a fake profile, for whatever reason, even if it's just for a 'joke' just think before you do it. It's not a good idea!

Safety is key.

Miracle Eyes

So this is my last review of Younique's products, and today I'll be finishing with a bang, with the most amazing eye products! Previously you've read about the facial products and facial make-up that I reviewed, and I can honestly say that I've had only positive experiences with all of Younique's products that I've sampled!

Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powders

These are little gems! Not only is there a huge range of colours, but you can easily create your own colours by blending- and these were a pleasure to work with! They can either be applied as a powder, or mixed with Rose Water to create a creamier texture depending on how YOU wish to do it.

I first tried it as a powder as that is what I am used to. It went on really softly and felt as light as anything! Here I used the shade 'Heart Broken' and 'Curious' and blended them onto my eyelids, creating a lovely warm colour! As you can see I also added my own eyeliner and mascara! (I am also wearing the make-up that I did in my previous posts). I love natural looking eyeshadows, and this colour definitely was! I love it! So subtle, so pretty!

I also tried other colours- this time mixing with rose water! I was sceptical, but wow! It worked a charm. It beautifully caressed my eyelids with its light creamy texture and dried instantly, meaning no smudges! It lasted throughout the majority of the day without any signs of wear! The results were fantastic and it also didn't seem like an eyeshadow because of how brilliantly it went onto my eyelids. The colours were fantastic!

Here was part of my process:

3D Fiber Lashes

3D Fiber Lashes are Younique's best sellers, and I'm not surprised! With these you can wave goodbye to the days of struggling to glue on false lashes. These are a fantastic alternative! I would 110% recommend these to everyone, because they simply are amazing! It's a miracle! You can see the difference down below, between normal mascara and 3D Fiber Lash Mascara!! Epic! The left picture I have normal mascara on my left eye ( right side to you) and 3D Fiber Lashes on my right eye (left side to you).

SO there you have it! Such wonderful and beautiful make-up from Younique. All their products are natural formulas as well! Bonus!

My Second Day Hair Regime

All girls dislike greasy, messy hair. Well most, I am yet to meet anyone who has said to me 'I love having greasy hair'- because that'd be weird. If I had it my way I'd wash my hair everyday, because I love feeling fresh (well if I had it my way, hair would never get dirty in the first place), however I know now that washing hair isn't always what's best for it. So now that I wash my hair every other day, I thought it'd be interesting for me to share with other likeminded women, how I prep my hair on it's second day. Exciting I know.

First of all, the obvious step, and I'm not going to insult your intelligence by descibing how to brush hair. But yes, basically brush your hair well, but carefully. If you're having loads of hair come out, it's probably partially due to rough brushing. So be kind to it!

My hair, like many others i'm sure, gets greasy pretty quickly, and what's more off putting is that it feels greasy or hot, sometimes even if it doesn't look it. So for my second day hair, I need something that'll take this feeling and appearance away. I'm sure you all know what is coming.... dry shampoo. When it comes to dry shampoo I don't always have a preference. The ones i've used have all done their job, however the one I'm using at the moment, and have probably bought the most is Batiste.

Batiste Dry Shampoo comes in lots of different scents or as I was about to say, flavours, but I wouldn't recommend tasting them! I spray about 20-30cm away from my hair in the places I need it (which is everywhere to be honest) and then massage through with my hands as if I were washing my hair- just not too much else you'll cancel out what it just did. Then brush it through a bit, so you don't have any dusty looking hair. If there is anything worse than greasy hair, it's looking as if you've been sat on a shelf for years/you have prematurely grey hair. Then voila, you hair feels so much better. This is a must have in your holiday bags, and great for students or working women who don't have time to wash hair everyday!

I get plenty of split ends (the little buggers) so my next step is to make sure I've treated them. I can't stand the throught of second day hair bunged up in a bun, without any split end protection. Just imagine your hair bobbles declaring war on your ends and chopping all their heads off. You're hair is going to get shorter if you don't take care of your split ends, and continue to throw your hair back in to a messy updo! I hate to say it girlies, but the messy bun isn't always our best friend! :( Now I swear by Tresemme's Split End Remedy. I've been using this for a few years now, and I really do think it has magical powers. I don't go without this now, and to be honest it isn't that expensive! I put this remedy through the mid to end parts of my hair, making sure not to put it further up and cancel out Batiste's work. After using this, I feel more confortable styling my hair as I am reassured that my hair will be in a much better condition and won't be so frail and brittle!

After this my final step it to style it. If i'm feeling really confident I may leave my hair down, but that only happens once in a blue moon. Usually I'll pop it up in a lose pony tail or lose topnot and clip my bangs back out of my face.

That's my second day hair regime. Maybe it was of use to you. Maybe it wasn't.

Face Make-Up From Younique

So, I previously reviewed Younique's fantastic facial care products, which have been a pleasure to use! Today's review will be on Younique's face make-up.

BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer

If you're looking for a light coverage that leaves you skin feeling soft and almost as if you aren't wearing make-up, then Younique's BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer is the one for you! I applied a small amount of this using a soft make-up sponge. I would highly recommend using a soft make-up sponge rather than your hands or a brush as it gives a much more even, natural looking finish and is also kinder on your skin. I have fair skin so I used the 'Cream' shade of this product which matched my skin perfectly. Unlike a lot of foundations and BB creams, this product didn't feel heavy. Sometimes even with one layer of face make-up you feel like the moment you get hot, your face will melt off! However this BB Cream made me feel as though I wasn't even wearing any, and because of this, as it gradually wore off by the end off the day, it wasn't a huge change to my look- because the result it gives you is so natural! The BB Cream is very silky and smooth but doesn't feel too oily on the skin and left my skin feeling nourished throughout the day!

Moodstruck Minerals Concealer

For a lot of women, concealer is a vital part of their make-up regime. Whether it be for concealing blemishes or for hiding dark circles, concealer has earned its place in our make-up bags. Younique offers a wonderful range of skin tone shades in their fabulous Moodstruck Minerals Concealer, from 'Fresh' to 'Fierce'. To apply, I simply dabbed my concealer brush into the powdered concealer ( it can also be mixed with water or rose water to create a more creamy solution) and applied it to the areas of my face where blemishes had broke out. I also used small amounts under my eyes. As a powder, I already had the reassurance that it would stay put for a long amount of time and that it would not feel sticky. In fact it acted as a powder and a concealer and helped lock in the BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer that I have already applied. Some people may like to apply concealer before foundation or BB Cream, however I often apply afterwards because I can see what the foundation hasn't covered! This concealer feels so light and dainty and doesn't leave your skin looking like it is coated in layers of thick make-up! A fantastic buy that would easily fit in with your other daily products!

Refreshed Pure and Natural Rose Water

Rose water can be used to mix with the Moodstruck Minerals Concealer and the Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Powder (which I shall review next time) to create a creamier texture if powdered make-up is not for you. This allows us to have control over how and what we apply to our face! The Rose Water can also be used simply as quick splash of revitalising moisture, to give you a fresh, awake feeling throughout the day. It smells lovely and I was surprised as to how well it worked with all the other make-up!
