So the past few days have been very hectic, well the past few weeks have. But I'm not complaining as I have some really good stuff in the pipeline, which I'll either blog about soon or maybe even a vlog. Who knows!
But basically it's gotten to the stage in this semester where all assignments are due and I've been working so hard for so long to try and get these assignments perfect- which still probably hasn't happened. Also I've only handed in 2/6 so far (AH!). So there is a lot more effort left to go- sad times.
So today I managed to have a lie in until 10:30 which was lush but I still didn't want to get out of bed. When I was ready I got on the bus and headed to hand in my assignment. It's due on the 4th but I'm an organised weirdo and I always have to hand everything in the day before it's due in case of some sort of assignment emergency. So I handed it in, although I'm a little bit worried as the lady who took it in didn't seem sure of what she was doing! Hopefully it'll get marked okay!
So then I headed to my seminar, luckily I had prepared a flask of coffee in my new, cute little flask. I met my friend and we caught up which was lovely, and we both waited for our seminar to start. We realised we were the only two people sat in class, this would normally be considered strange but it often happens. Unfortunately the lecturer didn't turn up, so there must be something we didn't know about. Annoying. So I had to head back home.
I got home and played Call of Duty Zombies with my housemate then for the next few hours whilst I waited for my ASDA shopping to be delivered- hoorah for food and zombies! It came eventually although they almost cancelled my order as they could find my house!!
I then went to get some keys cut, which was a boring job but had to be done. Got to listen to some tunes on the way so not all bad.
Later on in the day we had to go for a house viewing as we are currently looking for a house for next year- exciting. Unfortunately it wasn't the house for us, but it was still lovely.
Then I made a very kid-like meal of fish fingers, potato waffles and beans-yummy! And finished writing an article for something I am very excited about and looked over my film script.
Now I am sat in bed, with a cuppa and some skittles and biscuits, blogging. I don't know what it is tonight but I have so much energy and it all seems to be coming out in writing. Oh and I also wrote another article for something else- craziness!
I should probably go to bed as I have to be up at 8am tomorrow for a lecture. It's just lovely to be blogging again and talking to you all!

It's that time of the year again when everyone seems to be or get ill- I know I am. I can't seem to shake whatever it is that I have. It can make you feel really glum, so for those of you who are stuck for ideas on how to feel better, here are a few of my tips:
1.) Get plenty of sleep, but don't over sleep. This one is a general rule in life to be honest. Not enough sleep and too much sleep can make you tired. Tiredness can lead to so many things and may be one of the reasons you're ill, or could be contributing to your immune system not working as well. So go to bed, get snuggly!
2.) Drink plenty- especially things with vitamins in. So this could be orange juice or vitamin water, whatever takes your fancy. Keeping hydrated is important in keeping your body healthy, so make sure you keep a bottle next to you at all times when ill- who cares if you keep needing to pee!
3.) Be happy. Now this may seem like I'm asking a lot. However when we're ill we feel really sad and moody, but if we try and do nice things and enjoy ourselves whilst ill, we'll start to feel better in ourselves. For example being happier could include finding a good boxset to watch whilst you're sat in bed drinking a lemsip, or it could be a nice walk down to the beach or park!
4.) Pamper yourself. Have a bubble bath and put a face pack on. Maybe use some gradual bronzing lotion to make you feel glowy and healthy on the outside, even if you're not feeling great on the inside. Pampering could even include treating yourself to a take away- these will also make you happier (see above).
5.) Wrap up warm. If you're ill, being cold is only going to make things worse (usually). So when you go out, put a coat and scarf on and don't go out with wet hate- death trap!
6.) Use the time you're cooped up inside to be productive- perhaps read a book or finish off some work you've been meaning to do.
7.) Have a hot lemon drink. My auntie introduced me to these, and they are lush. Use half a lemon, or a whole lemon , squeeze out the juice into a mug. Then pour hot water in, and add sugar and/or honey. It makes you feel so much better. Lemon is good for phlegm as it helps cut through it- meaning a clearer throat!
8.) Don't stress. Stressing makes you ill. So NO!
9.) Look up videos of cute puppies or kittens, because, well they make everyone feel better don't they? So look at how cute they are with their little ears and their little toes! Awh!
10.) Be comfy. Don't worry about dressing in your finest clothes. Take advantage of your illness and wear baggy comfy clothes- so much better!!
So I hope these have helped, even though I'm pretty much telling you what you already know, but hey ho!

So this week and last have been very stressful. Having a new puppy is like having a baby (I imagine), except much more hairy. He gets us up at night, and it takes hours of playing with him to tire him out. Then when he falls asleep we can finally relax, yet he's so cute that when he's asleep we can't wait for him to wake up! He's at the teething stage at the moment, meaning he likes to chew on anything, and currently he has a taste for arms and legs. I cannot count the amount of marks I have on my arms from him scratching or nibbling me! The thing is he is just playing and unfortunately we just have to accept that he will be a bit nibbly for a while. However this period will soon stop and we'll be able to cuddle him without the fear of his needle sharp teeth.
This morning he was rather crazy, going hyper and trying to climb the stairs. We've started putting the radio on in the kitchen, tuned to Classic FM, which he seems to enjoy. Now I feel exhausted. I am very much in need of a night out. So later on this evening I am visiting my friend to check out her new flat and have some wine and watch some scary films. A proper girls night in, which is just what I need. It's strange being home for summer. Back at University I of course saw friends every day because I lived with them, so being back home is odd, because if my family are all working I only have myself and Marvel's company!
My holiday so far seems to have consisted of me becoming obsessed with MTV, specifically the show 'Catfish: The TV Show'. I'm hooked what can I say! It's got me thinking how crazy the world is, and how people aren't always what they say, and also that even people you know may have secrets or things about themselves that they hide. A random thought to add to this blog, but there hasn't been much structure to this post so I thought I'd mention it. I've been finding blogging extremely hard since being back- I had so many plans for this blog, and I am yet to have the chance to write them! Having a puppy has definitely made it harder to blog, what with him trying to chew through my cables! Nevertheless I'm powering through. I've got some really cool ideas for blog posts soon, so please bear with and let me know of any blogs or vlogs you'd like me to do!

So I thought I had better do another little life snippet, to update you all on what's been happening in my life recently. I never know how interesting these posts are for you, but I also know that it's quite relaxing sometimes to have something less stressful to read (I realise I say something like this in every post).
So I recently hit the 4000 views mark on my blog, which to outsiders doesn't seem very much at all, but to me I think that's a great start. That fact my little blog has been looked at and read 4000 times makes me very happy! Of course it'd be fantastic to see those figures rising more and more, but so far I do genuinely see it as an achievement, and my blog has become something I am very proud of.
I may not be the best writer in the world, or the best blogger, but I do have a passion for what I do. I love to be able to make someone happy through my words, or to inspire someone through just writing something.
I was very down recently because I did not get the grades I had hoped for in some of my assignments at University, which when you are studying Writing, is very disheartening when you have such a passion for blogging. However, sometimes I think 'what do they know'? I love what I do and have received such positive feedback so I am going to just continue doing what I love. What do grades mean anyway? Nobody is the same so how can you mark writing when there isn't a right or wrong answer! I, and many others experiencing the same need to be proud of their own work and remember that others are different to you and only you can write what you write!
So I also moved out of my University Halls of Residence which was a very emotional time for me. It didn't help that I was rushed out of it for an inspection- I barely got to say goodbye-( Am I the only one who feels the need to say farewell to rooms?). Anyway, I'm back in Northampton now, and with some very exciting news coming up!
Because I am away from University for 3 months, I will really try my best to be 100% dedicated to blogging. I will also try my best to do as many Vlogs as I can also. Of course I was aiming to do one every Saturday, however sometimes I have found it rather hard, so I will try my best to upload vlogs when I can.
Today has been a beautiful day, and I spent it being in town and at the park with two of my very close University friends (who happen to live near me). We had a little picnic, over looking the lakes and the ducks and we saw a very aggressive swan! It has been a lovely day!
So that's my life at the moment, for you! What have you all been up to? X

So here is this weeks vlogging update. Sorry it's not a majorly exciting video, I've been rather busy this week, but didn't want to disappoint you, so here is a little update, because I love you! X
Enjoy!!
Okay so my second vlog is now here. Primark is a student's heaven so I thought it rather appropriate to vlog about it. Apologies for my poor equipment as I am currently recording on my webcam which isn't ideal. But hey ho we'll see how it goes. I actually filmed this video today, so I wasn't rehearsed or anything which is probably why in the video I am being my usual awkward self. But vlogging is hard, you don't realise it until you try it- you are in a room talking to yourself which is crazy. But here it is and I Hope you will get some enjoyment out of it!
Thanks for watching and please subscribe and follow me on here for more updates!! X
The Woman by the Rock Pools
Every night he would see her. Crimson wavy
hair that resembled silk ribbons, cascaded down to her waist and her peachy
skin appeared as soft as a chick's feather. He did not know why she was there,
nor did he ever approach her. He just watched as she sat on the rock pools by
the tides. In all his years, he had never seen such beauty. He had never
married or found love with any woman he had seen. But now, something was different,
this rock pool woman had become everything to him. He didn't even know her name
but seeing her by the tide each night was his favourite part of the day.
He was a fairly well off
gentleman, who lived on the Scottish coast in a picturesque house made out of
white stone that in the sunlight, beamed so brightly it could be spotted from
the nearby islands. Chosen, for the fact he loved the sea and to fish with his
fellow men. He was one of the finest fishermen the village had ever seen. He
regularly brought fish he had caught on a market day to sell to the villagers. He
was well known in his village and loved for his elevating mood and spirit.
Everyone who met him was overwhelmed by his jolly soul and ability to babble away
for hours in a conversation on just about anything. Most nights he would go to
the village hall to take part in community gatherings. Taking part in these
activities kept him occupied as he lived alone. Recently however he hadn't been
turning up quite as frequently. Not since he'd seen her. For some unknown
reason when he saw her, he was mesmerised and couldn't take his eyes off of
her.
It was a blustery Tuesday night when
he next saw her- sitting once again by the tide. Her hair was blowing
uncontrollably in the breeze, but she did not seem to care. She must have been
freezing, for he was wearing three layers of warm clothing and she was
completely naked.
"What was she doing?" He wondered.
He decided tonight would be the night he would speak to her. Enough was enough,
he had to meet her. He scrambled steadily over the sharp rocks that lead down
from the hill onto the beach. He paused for a moment, catching his breath and
preparing himself.
"E-e-excuse
me m'am. You-You must be freezing down here," he stuttered. He slowly took
his red coat off from around his shoulders and put it in his arms. The lady
slowly looked around, her red hair straggling across her face. She lifted one
hand to gently tuck it behind her ear, although it almost straight away blew
back down.
"Hello
there." She spoke in a tone so soft, for a moment he questioned if she
were an angel. Her blue eyes were the colour of the ocean in front of her. She
smiled-her lips as red as the most beautiful rose bud. " I am rather chilly, I suppose."
She nodded in the direction of his coat. He hesitated and then realised what
she meant and he walked closer and handed it to her. She looked confused as to
how to put it on.
"Oh it
goes like this. First arm.." He said as he helped her into his warm
jacket. She shut her eyes unhurriedly and then soon opened them again. "
What's your name m'am? If that's not too rude a question to ask".
" Of
course it isn't" She giggled with a luminous charm. "
Chrisselle".
"Hello,
Chrisselle, I'm Adrian. It's awfully horrible weather, would you like to come in
for some tea?" He plucked up the courage to say, but then stared at the
ground, afraid he'd asked too much.
"
What's tea?!" Chrisselle looked puzzled. Adrian did a sideward smile, unsure if she
genuinely did not know. He held out both his hands ,which were about twice the
size of Chrisselle's delicate ones, and helped her up. She tightly gripped at
the coat he had lent her to keep the chill away. They both climbed over the
jagged rocks and up the sand banks until
they reached his white dwelling.
Two hours went by and the pair had told
many stories to each other, talking almost as if they had known each other all
their life. Adrian had found out some old clothes, a green cardigan and some
old cream coloured trousers, that had once belonged to his deceased mother and
allowed Chrisselle to wear them. The clock was ticking, it was getting rather
late. Did she not have anywhere to be? Nevertheless it didn't matter. Adrian
loved the beauty's company. However at the stroke of midnight, Adrian had
walked back into the living room with two more cups of tea, to find her gone.
In the short space of two weeks, the pair
had spent every daylight hour together and shortly became engaged. Every night
she would disappear without a word. But Adrian did not care. He loved
Chrisselle to much to ask, and the thought of asking only made him fear losing
her. On the evening before their wedding
the men from the village thought it would be a brilliant idea to go hunting, as
a celebration of his betrothal. In the village it was popular to hunt seals.
Seals were big around these areas and had good skins and fur to make coats and
boots out of. Although a horrific idea, Adrian went along with it. He'd never
really been much of a hunter but picked
it up very easily. The men sat on their wooden boats, fishing and hunting for
four hours. They laughed, drank and sang merry folk songs until their throats
were sore. They had reminisced about their own weddings and Adrian had admitted
his undying love for Chrisselle and how he had never been truly happy until
he'd met her.
At the end of the night the men reeled
their nets in and brought them to the shore. They were horrified at what they
found next. Amongst the few seals and fish they had managed to catch, lay
something they couldn't believe. They undid the net and looked in horror at the
dead, bloody thing lying before them. It had one mangled seal tail with velvety
wet fur. But the further up the body it got the less fur and the more peachy
skin there was. Its face and head, once beautiful, was now a red dripping mess,
with ripped crimson hair separated in wet strands. They all stood in silence.
Adrian returned from tying the boats up, merrily he waddled up to his friends,
at first smiling until seeing their faces. He looked down at the ground. It was
her. His beauty. His wife to be- Chrisselle. She was half seal and half woman
and she was dead. Adrian fell to knees, cutting them badly on the sharp pebbles
as he went. He lay his soaking wet face across her bloody body, as his tears
absorbed into her skin.
As the years went past people of the
village barely saw Adrian again. Tales and rumours were told of the old man who
lived in the white stone house overlooking the shore. And how he fell in love
with a Selkie, a woman that can shed her seal skin and become a human and for
the rest of his days he mourned her death. He never met anyone else and never got
married. He lived the rest of his days by himself. He could never forgive
himself for killing the one person he had ever loved. The only thing that had
given him a reason to be happy.

Okay, so I thought I'd write about you for a change. Yes you, the readers. Or perhaps you're listeners, maybe someone is reading this to you. Which ever it is I want to let you know that you're extremely important to me- without you, i'd just be talking to myself. Maybe I am. If so, hello self! But if not, then I think it is important that you know a bit about me, a bit about whose writing your reading. First of all I hope you are all enjoying my blogs, I assure you they will keep coming as I am loving writing them. Perhaps you folks could comment soon to let me know what you think or if you want me to write about specific things? That'd be great! Well I'll start by introducing myself....
My name is Laura, and I am studying at Portsmouth University, studying, wait for it... Creative and Media Writing. I'm sure that's no surprise? I am very small, and find it hard to reach top cupboards. I have brown hair and blue eyes( Blah Blah Blah). I like to write songs and sing them whilst playing the guitar. I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Disney. I wish that real life had theme tunes and instrumentals. Sometimes I like to imagine what it would be like if I were famous. Sometimes I like to imagine what it would be like to be a fox. I'm sure you've already gathered, I am very weird.
So this hasn't been your typical introduction but I didn't want to go on about all the boring things. As I said, feedback would be great!
Thanks X
